Tour highlights.

Walk 4

The walk commences from the Campary restaurant at Central Park in Vilcabamba and heads westward into the hills and ridges of the Mandango. As we walk along a creek bed in the quebrada Puliche, the path ascends to an elevation of 1900 meters, with incredible views in all directions. From this high point, the route descends along the pass down to the valley of Rio Piscopamba.

Along the way, the route follows a canal that brings us to the old road between Tumianuma and Linderos, with views of the many ridges, canyons and valleys along the way.mandango-trail

After passing through the village of Linderos we follow the road briefly to Cucanama Alto, from where we ascend along a stream bed that brings us to another canal. On this final portion of the trip the path is moderate and mainly flat, but includes many memorable panoramic views along the way.

Finally, we arrive back in Vilcabamba’s central park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The “Sleeping God” Mandango resembles a cathedral. With its own legends and stories keeps captivating locals and foreigns. It is also known as the sacred mountain with powers to control the climate and earthquakes.
